This box is planted for some of my favorite Quackers and since they "won" me in a recent raffle, I’m leaving a box for them to find on our "trek". This hike by itself is about a mile and a half round trip (our Trek all the way on the blue trail, will be a bit longer :-)
On route 42 in Bethany is a new parking area for the Whittemore Trail (previously there was NO parking). This is a CT. blue/white blazed connector trail and is marked by the familiar blue oval. Veterans Memorial Park is across the road from here.
The trail is blazed with blue and white blazes with some old Whittemore whites in between. Follow it up and down a few times until suddenly you can see a building on the left. After crossing an old woods road, the trail levels out somewhat. Keep following the trail until you see a good sized Oak (?) with a skinny Birch (?) companion, sprouting up between 2 good sized rocks (boulders?). This is just 12 steps before you join the blue blazed Naugatuck Trail. Look behind these trees.
Orange or yellow ink not included.
