This box is located at White Oak Conservation Area. It is a Mahaska County Conservation park. For more information view their website http://www.mahaskaconservation.com/recreation/white_oak.php
There are 3 places to park. The trail is a loop that is 1.2 miles long and goes around the park. To get this box only, parking by the boat ramp will be the closest.
Go to the trail. Follow the trail around to the left. Keeping the lake on your right. Go through the prarie and the marsh. When you are on the backside of the lake you will see a fence line. Go to the corner post. Count back the number of bridges you have crossed. Duck under the pokey tree, just like this animal it doesn't know which side of the fence to stay. This critter doesn't need the cover... it knows how to cover itself just fine. Be careful! They live in this area!
(Note: there are several places where this trail divides. Just keep the lake on your right.)
*There is hunting allowed in Mahaska County parks. Please read posted signs and follow all rules of the park. During hunting season please use caution in any parks where hunting is allowed.
