BOX IS MISSING!!!!

If you are familiar with Kansas City then I am sure you know of the Liberty Memorial. I have included a link to the website if you would like to learn more about the Memorial. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberty_Memorial

The memorial was built to honor the sacrifices made by servicemen and women during World War I. If you have never visited the memorial, it also has a great museum and is well worth a visit to check it out. http://www.theworldwar.org/s/110/new/index_community.aspx

In addition, there is also a great view of Union Station (where many troops passed through during the War) and of downtown Kansas City! As wonderful as this monument may be, did you know there is another tribute to those from Kansas City who lost their lives during World War I? It is this much lesser known memorial that is the location of my letterbox.

Starting from a central location (The Plaza) drive south on Ward Parkway to the Meyer Fountain (beautiful fountain especially at night) and park on any side street. Walk to the south side of the fountain, cross the street (traffic circle) to the structure with the stone eagles on the top. This is the memorial to those from Kansas City who never made it back from the War. Take a few moments to read their names, and reflect on the sacrifices they made to our country. When you are ready, walk south between the two walls, turn to your right and look at the back side of the north facing wall. At the base of this wall, about 12" from the inside corner, you will find a small opening with a rock covering the small letterbox. Please take care when replacing the letterbox, as I know they do lawn maintenance regularly. Also, be discreet as well, due to the high volume of traffic. I hope you have enjoy the letterbox!
