This is another letterbox in the Legacy Art Park at Crystal Mountain Resort. It is a great walk for adults and kids, with lots of sculptures to enjoy. Enter Crystal Mountain Resort and follow the signs to Legacy Art Park. Once there, park your car in the Art Park lot. There may be a docent at the base of the hill encouraging a suggested $3 donation (or $10 per family). Grab a trail map and a bingo card if they are out and you're on your way!
Head up the trail following the Art Walk trail signs. Once you pass the amphitheater, take the right fork. Continue following the markers until you reach the airplane sculpture “Fallen Comrade”. Continue up the hill just around the bend as it curves to the left. Turn around and look for the “Flying Squirrel” plaque on a tree to the right of the path. Once you are facing the plaque, look to your left across the path for a dead tree trunk with an opening at the top. Walk about 25 feet to the dead tree trunk and look in the top to find the box. Enjoy the rest of the walk!
