This difficult hike is well worth the effort. The view from the top is 360°. As one hiker said - You feel on top of the world!! Amazing view of Mt. Jefferson, the three sisters, Mt. Hood, and miles upon miles upon miles of vistas of Eastern and Western Oregon. Lovely scenery all the way up, but avoid the downed trees on this unmaintained trail in “a nation where the sun shines most everyday.”

Look at ISBN#0967783070 hike#207.

3.8 mile one way, 2600' elevation gain.

These simply carved stamps were made for a kid’s art camp about the Ancient Near East, and used a lot over seven weeks. In my visit to our brother’s nation, and near the anniversary of 9/11 I left these images of peace.

Box#1 Make it to the top and find a common Arabic greeting also meaning peace. After enjoying the view, head to the highest cluster of trees on the southern end of the butte. Look under the most easterly branches, under rocks.

Box#2 Locate this about 3/4 of the way to the bottom. Keep an eye out on the left side of the trail for a Siamese tree, just on the edge of a rocky scree. You might hear pikas calling. If you stand next to the tree you will see a view of Mt. Hood. On the side of tree opposite the trail locate this box under rocks.

(look for the many other great letterboxes in the area)
