Frederick Chopin is perhaps one of the greatest composers for piano of all time. Born in Poland in 1810, he began studying piano at 6, gave his first concert at 8, and published his first music at 15. His music is infused with the spirit and rhythm of Polish folk music and often reflects a nostalgia for a nation that was once the largest and most noble in Europe.
Terrain: Easy, mostly flat paths, a few hills, less than a mile to the box. At the time I placed this box, several trees had fallen across the path near the end and had to be circumnavigated off trail.
Clues: Hard!
For a copy of the sheet music, see this page:
http://home.comcast.net/~the.jefe/letterboxing/chopin.gif
Notes:
- No ink pad in the box, make sure you bring your own.
- Entrance/parking fee at NY state parks is about $7, and the ticket gets you admission to any other state park on the same day.
- Although a map is not required, you might want to ask for a trail map at the gate house. Alternately, a map of this area appears on Finger Lakes Trail Conference map M16, which is available here: http://www.fingerlakestrail.org
- Please do not ask me for additional hints without offering a bribe of unpublished clues, hitchhikers, etc.
- Please email me with notes about the box: jelybean.books@comcast.net.
