NOTE: This letterbox has been reported missing. The area in which it was placed has been landscaped, and the hiding place is gone.

Like many people, my interest in visiting Savannah was sparked by what is referred to in Savannah simply as "the Book." Of course, that book is "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil." I decided what Savannah needed was a flower from the midwest, to bring a little "Minnesota Nice" to tip the balance of power toward the good.
To find the Minnesota flower, you must first find the Mercer/Williams house. (If you read the book, this is the first place you want to see in Savannah anyway.) Directly across the street from the front of the grand old house, at the edge of Monterey Square, you will find a sign that says No Parking on Sunday. Stand facing the house with this sign over your left shoulder. There will be a parking meter right in back of you. If you look down just to the right of your right foot, you will see some ivy growing under the bushes. The letterbox is under this ivy.
The front of the Mercer/Williams house is a busy place, so be careful when you remove and replace the letterbox. Hopefully you will not be seen, and this box will stay in place for a while.
