Originally planted by KazooDog and kindly adopted in May 2009 by pale puppy posse.

Generally easy trail, but most latter portion may challenge a bit in winter; hikers advised to be wary of any disc golf players for being hit by a disc poses potential serious pain or injury.

This letterbox is located in Oshtemo Township Park, 7275 W. Main Street, behind the Oshtemo Township Hall. Sixty-five acres in size, this park includes a playground, picnic pavilion, restrooms, ballfield, disc golf course and hiking trails (It might be possible to cross-country ski here in winter, even though trails are not groomed.)Dogs on leash are welcome. There is good paved parking and, happily, no entry/parking fees. The park is open from 8:00 a.m. to sunset.

The disc golf course, particularly from about mid-afternoon to evening on weekdays and all hours of both weekend days, draws rather heavy use by players during the disc golf season.

Directions:
The park can be reached from either I-94 west or east, by exiting north at US-131. At the Kalamazoo M-43 exit from US-131 from either south or north, follow M-43 west (this is W. Maint Street) to the park. The park entry is located just west of the Oshtemo Public Library (from the road, the library looks like a castle)and Township Hall on the south side of the road (West Main Animal Hospital is almost immediately opposite on the north side of W. Main St.). Follow the entry road straight south to the parking area.

Clues:
From the parking lots, find the path at the southwest end of the northwest parking area that begins where the chips have fallen. Follow this path a short distance beyond the nesting area on the left to where the path forks in many directions. Look here for Six where, if you stand by it and face south, you will spot heavy metal protuding from the ground; head toward the metal, but make sure to watch out for flying saucers! From the "heavy metal" place, take about 32 paces south to the sentinels that stand on the east and west sides of this wide open pathway. It might be tempting to take paths to the right once past the sentinels but - despite the potential dangers of flying saucers - remember that the fairway is the best way, at least until until you arrive at the V post. From the V post, take 12 steps about 220 degrees southwest to a trail of escape from any saucers. Follow this short trail, taking a left where it ends to walk in a southerly direction for about 36 paces* or so where - if you have a good eye - you'll find a narrow trail on (think of political terms) the conservative side. Take this path; if it's the correct one, you'll notice a dirty, old relic resting against trees on the liberal side. Follow this narrow path that meanders downhill to Lillian's place where, without crossing into her space, a turn to face almost due east will bring into view a clump of 4-5 large trees where one has fallen toward the west to make a table (or perhaps a letterboxing seat for you). Facing east from the trail, go to the table/seat and follow it to the place where it started with its upstanding siblings. Here you will find your reward! You may, from this point, retrace your steps or continue upward along this trail.

CAUTION: Be aware that disc golfers may be present on some parts of this trail; in winter, the trail to Lillian's place - especially if it is snow-covered - may be a bit hard to find and a little harder to traverse...but take the chance under all conditions as it's a lovely way to go!
