To find Pocono ‘Gould’, take Route 507 to the signs for Gouldsboro State Park.Turn onto State Park Road, and go approx. 1.2 miles to Parking Area 2.
Parking Area 2 is an oval…about ½ way down the drive on the right, you will see a trail head on the right with a large boulder at the entrance. Park and start your hike there, heading southwest on the trail marked with blue. Pass an old-fashioned water pump and continue toward Parking Area 3. You will exit onto the parking lot…go left a few steps, then look right, to pick up the blue trail again. Continue on the blue trail, until it dead-ends onto a paved road. Cross the road and you will see the sign for the trailhead of the Frank Gantz trail (blazed red). Head south down the trail. Pass the triple-trunk tree on the right, opposite a large boulder on the left. Continue on, until you reach a large clearing, where the trail seems to split around a large pile of trees and brush.
Go toward the left on the less traveled path. Take 24 paces from the center of the clearing (count one pace each time your right foot hits the ground). You will see a large boulder formation on the left. There are three big boulders in a line toward a fourth, large flat boulder, which is surrounded by a ‘crown’ of five more boulders. Under the back of the center (fourth) bolder, you will find what you seek.
