The quest for Budda Frog’s #1 letterbox starts at the Resource Building at the Chippewa Nature Center.

Follow the River Trail past Wigwam. Spend some time enjoying the model of a Native American shelter. Once done resume your trek on the River Trail. Keep going, you must past the first bench and the second bench. If it is an early morning or late in the evening you may hear the sounds of my fellow friends. You will notice that the second bench overlooks the fork of the river where the Pine and Chippewa Rivers meet. Notice the large tree that has fallen into the river. It should be interesting to see how much this tree affects the flow of the rivers in the years to come.

Continue forward keeping the river to your left side. Once you approach the fork in the trail where the Arboretum Trail splits be patient. At this point march 4 paces until you’re even with the trail marker to the Homestead Farm. You can’t miss it, the marker is on the right side of the trail and has a blue dot. Glance to your left and you will see a large tree. The treasure is on the backside of the tree.

Be careful, as the bank to the river is only a yard or two away. There is not enough room for a large group. But then you wouldn’t do that anyway. After all that would draw attention to your activity. Remember to be discreet as this box is only yards away from two well-traveled trails. If needed take a rest on the bench until the traffic has passed. Once you have signed and stamped our letterbox please be sure to cover it well.
