I have a "granddog" named Sierra. Her family asked me to hide a letterbox in her honor.

From U. S. Highway 50 in Placerville, drive north on State Highway 49 for about 3.5 miles to the intersection with Red Shack Road. There is a dirt pullout on the right side of this intersection with a bronze historical marker for "The Luse Ditch Flume". Continue through the pullout to a separate fenced parking area at the far end of the pullout and park there.

Walk through the gate and on the dirt road that goes downhill. Walk until you arrive at a sharp hairpin turn to the left. At this turn there is a narrow side trail going off to the right. There is a bunch of wild grape growing at this intersection. Walk on the side trail for about 109 steps to where the trail appears to end in a small clearing. Turn to your right and go for about 90 degrees (from mag. north) up slope for about 34 steps to a fairly large double trunk Oak Tree with a very leaning Pine Tree several yards behind it. The box is under the east side of the Oak Tree covered with some rocks covered with some plant debris. Be alert for snakes.

Please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag) and put all of it INSIDE the box. Please rehide the box well under the rock and covered with some plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction.

I will not be able to check on this box very often; so, please let me know if you find it or if it needs attention or is missing: http://home.att.net/~azroadie/letterboxing.html

Please record your find at www.letterboxing.org/ or at www.atlasquest.com/ .

Before you set out, please read the waiver of responsibility and disclaimer.
Please be sure to reseal baggies and boxes carefully so that they stay dry and rehide boxes in their original location, completely hidden from view.
