Clues:

The Knight's Pond Valentine letterbox can be found in the Knight's Pond Conservation area in Alton/Wolfeboro, NH.

From the Alton traffic circle, travel north on Route 28 toward Wolfeboro for about 7 miles, past the junction of 28A and the blinking light for the southern entrance to Robert's Cove Road, to the intersection of the northern entrance to Robert's Cove Road and Rines Road. Turn right onto Rines Road (you will stay to the right as you cross Stagecoach Road) and follow for 1.1 miles until the road splits with Hayes Road. The road turns to dirt as you continue to follow Rines Road to the left for another .5 miles where you reach the entrance to the Knight's Pond Conservation Area on the left hand side of the road. Enter through the gate and follow the road .5 miles to the parking area at the kiosk. Park, then enter the trail past a second gate. Follow this trail all the way to the pond. Do Not follow the trail marker that directs you into the woods to the left just as you can see the water through the trees.

Once you reach the beach, follow the trail that goes around the pond to your right. The trail will follow the shoreline. Continue following the trail until you cross a small stream that flows down from under the rocks on your right. Once you cross the stream, continue about 30 feet until the path is heavily overgrown with roots. About 10 feet off of the trail to your right is a tree that has grown over a pile of rocks. The Valentine is hidden below its roots, behind a flat rock that covers its hiding place.

After re-hiding the box, either return to your car the way you came, or continue in the direction that you have been walking around the pond. If you continue around the pond, the trail passes through a boulder field, across a bridge near a beaver dam, and back out to the trail sign that you passed on your way to the beach. Taking this route will take you about another 45 minutes. Even if you decide not to take this longer route around the pond, you might want to walk a minute or two up the trail to a grassy area for a nice view of the water and a good place to have a picnic or snack before returning to your car.
