The Sackett family is the fictional American family featured in a number of western novels by American writer Louis L'Amour. He penned the series at the Strater Hotel in Durango and some of the settings are based in this area. A great view of the area can be seen on the Haflin Creek Trail, where this letterbox is located.

Directions:
From Durango take Hwy 550 north about 6 miles and turn east on Trimble Lane (CR 252). Go about 1 mile and turn right at T jct. Go 1.1 mile and turn left into parking area for Haflin Creek Trail.

Clues:
Walk up the trail for about 1/4 mile to a trail sign pointing left. Continue on trail to the left, going uphill and bending right around an overhanging cliff. After another 1/4 mile, look right for 2 pine trees growing next to a large gray boulder about 7 steps uphill. The letterbox is between the boulder and trees under rocks. Please replace as described and be discreet.
