Terrain Difficulty: Easy (slight slope, 100 yards RT)
Recommended Ink: brown
Status: alive
Wilson Arch is a natural sandstone arch in southeastern Utah named after Joe Wilson, a local pioneer who had a cabin nearby in Dry Valley. With a span of 91 feet and height of 46 feet, it is well worth a stop, and now you can look for this letterbox, too.
Directions:
From La Sal Junction (south of Moab), drive hwy 191 south for 3.2 mile to a parking area on the left for Wilson Arch.
Clues:
From the Wilson Arch sign, walk up the hill toward the arch through the sand for about 20 yards until it becomes rock. Continue across the rock for 15 steps where it levels off. Turn left (north) and follow the sandy path for 25 steps to a pinon pine with 2 large branches growing along the ground toward the north. Look between the branches for 3 rocks next to the western-most branch. The letterbox is under the middle flat rock. Please replace as described and be discreet.
