THIS LETTERBOX IS PROBABLY MISSING
This is a hand carved stamp.
This letterbox was replaced on 9-23-2009 and not in the exact same spot so if you have printed out clues for this please make note of the changes in the revised clue.
Old State Road is off of M-66 between Mancelona and East Jordan in the Township of Jordan. Turn Right onto Old State and go down the road and cross over the bridge. Do a U turn and park facing West. Notice the path that leads down to the river. These tunnels are lots of fun to try to get through on your kayak, canoe, or tube. Sometimes you end up flipping over when you come through! Whenever we go kayaking or canoeing, we get wet here whether we flip over or not. Usually it's a hot day when we are on the water and this is our first resting area. We usually end up swimming here for awhile even though it is SO COLD! After viewing the tunnels, notice a path to your right that goes along the edge of the river. Take it 16 steps. There is a tree near the path. It had some bark missing when I planted the box. Near the base of this tree under a rock and some other things is the box. Please hide better than you found. Be wary of the water, tree roots & PEOPLE! Don't forget the bug spray. You will need your own ink pad and writing utensil. When I say be aware of people, I mean it. This box may best be found in Spring and Fall. Please do not attempt to find if there are people in sight. This is a popular location for fishing as well as the kayaking etc.
