Kenneth Wilson State Park
Directions: From Thruway Exit 19 at Kingston - take first right turn off traffic circle to Route 28, proceed approximately 21 miles west on Rte. 28 to Mt. Tremper, turn right on to Rte. 212, 1/2 mile to 4-way intersection. Turn right again on Wittenberg Road (County Rte. 40). The campsite is approximately 4 miles on the right side.
Alternate Route: Route 28, west turn right at Rte. 375, to Rte. 212, turn left off Rte. 212 at Bear's Cafe on to Rte. 45, turn right onto County Rte. 40. Campground is on the left side of road
Drive the campground loops slowly. On Loop C near the open field you'll see a gate with a STOP sign on it (by site 72). Begin here. Head downhill and walk the dirt road. At the T make a right onto a path. The stream is on your left. Be sure to stop along the way and turn over some rocks in the stream for some crayfishing fun. Go quietly as you approach a pool on your right and spot some frogs. Watch the left bank of the stream for a very large dead stump with an upside down tear drop shaped cavity. Stop when it is across from you. Look to the right for the fern glade where the elves and fairies play. Walk along the front edge of the glade to the fourth pine tree. The box is nested in the tree between the three trunks covered with sticks and pine needles. Please rehide well. There are many mountain bike trails at the park to enjoy. Take a walk on the Beaver Pond trail to find another box.
