This letterbox is named after one of the tallest trees in the Nicolet Forest. My boys named it the Triangle Tree because from my grandfather's cottage across the lake, the crown of the tree sticks out like a V. The crown has been dead for awhile, but the tree still has life in it.

Locate the Anvil Lake campground east of Eagle River. Go into the campground. Right before you hit 11, look for a trail by a gate. No cars allowed here, but feet are welcome. Look for the Big White Pine sign. Take 31 paces from the sign until you see a fence, go to the fence. Walk around the fence and give this massive Eastern White Pine a hug. You might need a few people to get your arms around it since it is well over 300 years old. Stand in front of the sign and read it. Take a step to your left and walk 10 paces directly ahead to the remnants of another ancient pine. You will find the letterbox here, hidden under some bark.
