My True Love's Steed ~Letterbox

This letterbox was created to highlight a geat drive or ride.
It will take you around Lake Coeur d'Alene and provide you with beautiful views.
Granted you don't get to see the lake during the whole drive or ride, but the beauty in this part of North Idaho is by no means pale in comparison.

You can start your loop where I-90 intersects with US 95.
1. I-90 intersects with US 95
2. Get on US 95 and drive south
3. In Plummer Turn left onto Cedar Street
4. Cedar Street becomes Hwy 5
5. Stay on Hwy 5 and drive east
6. Stop at the Sign that is in this picture. Click here to see the picture. It is 9.9 miles west of St.Maries. (please be extremely cautious when driving this narrow two lane road)
You will be in Heyburn State Park
Read the sign. Enjoy the view. Look at the large rocks bordering the pull out.
Count seven in a westerly direction. Note the metal pole with rings on it.
Carefully walk down the trail to the first Pine Tree.
Find letterbox on the lakeside of this tree, covered with pine needles and such.
Watch for Muggles and re-hide well.
Please don't let children go down this trail. It is not a safe place. The trail beyond the second tree drops 60 some feet down onto train tracks. Please be extremely careful.

After finding the box, you could return the way you came or you can continue the loop. It is worth the miles.
7. Continue easterly on Hwy 5 it takes you to Main Ave in St. Maries. Continue east.
8. Turn left onto Hwy 3. Continue westerly along the St. Joe River and on up the hill.
9. At the Y. Keep left onto Hwy 97
10. Go across Harrison Flats and on into the town Harrison.
11. Continue on Hwy 97
12. Continue until you reach Wolf Lodge area.
13. Turn left onto I-90 West ramp
14. I-90 intersects with US 95 Back where you started. 107 miles round trip.

Alternately, You could stay right at the Y of Hwys 97 and 3 and go up through Rose Lake. It connects with I-90 east of 4th of July Pass. When Hwy 3 Intersects I-90 head west. Or run this backwards. Anyway you do this it is a neat drive. Preferably though it is an awesome ride.
Hope you enjoy the area. Hope you enjoy the hunt.
Thanks for playing along and God bless.
