CAUTION: We haven't tried this at high tide.

You will start this short, easy, scenic waterfront walk for children of all ages at Dickerson's Boatyard-also known as Apponaug Harbor Yacht Club.

To get to the boatyard where you may park your vehicle-
___From the North- At Apponaug Four Corners ( the intersection of Rte.117 and Rte. 1), go South on Rte.1. Take 2nd left ,just after Remington House onto Arnold's Neck Road
---From the South- On Rte. 1, North of East Greenwich, take a right onto Arnold's Neck Road after passing Trudeau Center on the left and before Remington House on the right.
---N & S- Follow Arnold's Neck Road along Apponaug Cove, under the Railroad trestle and up the hill past the Crow's Nest Restaurant on your right.Stay on Arnold's Meck Drive taking a left at both forks in the road; down the hill to the parking area.
Look for "E" dock THIS IS WHERE YOUR HUNT BEGINS!

To the left of "E" dock, there is a sign that reads " PUBLIC SHORELINE ACCESS. FOOT TRAFFFIC ONLY. PLEASE STAY ON SAND TRAIL. AVOID WALKING ON VEGETATION." This is your route. Follow the sandy path to the point {Arnold's Neck) Turn left along the south shore of Apponaug Cove, Enjoy the boats moored to your right. The holes you see in the sand are fiddler crab burrows. Watch for the tiny crabs--they're completely harmless , but skittish.
The red nun bouy across the water lines up at 30 degrees plus or minus. (Compass bearing not necessary) Behind you , as you face the red bouy, you will see an abondoned metal stairway. Look there at the botttom to the left for the letterbox.
WARNING: Do not climb stairway. It is private property.
