THE PERSISTENT MONKEY (WHO FELL IN LOVE) LETTERBOX

REMOVED FOR THE WINTER! Check back around April 2010!

Rearrange the following letters to form a word that will lead you to a specific park in Onondaga County. Then, once at the correct location, use the clue to find this letterbox! Good Luck.

Monkey #1: 7th letter of the monkey that is featured in a series of picture books written by Hans Augusto Rey and Margaret Rey. He has been a beloved cartoon character since his creation in 1941, entertaining countless children with his propensity for getting into trouble and mischief (2 words).

Monkey #2: 1st letter of the monkey featured in Disney's Alladin.

Monkey #3: 4th letter of the monkey in the movie Night at the Museam, with Ben Stiller.

Monkey #4: 1st letter of the mandrill monkey featured in Disney's The Lion King.

Monkey #5: Last letter of the first monkey in space.

Monkey #6: 2nd letter of the Ace Ventura's monkey companion.

Clue:

Once in parking lot, walk towards the overlook that you passed driving into the park. Take a look if you would like! Continue past the overlook to a brown building on your right. Just past this building, on the right, is a trail entrance. Take the yellow trail and stay left. Eventually you will cross a bridge. Immediately afterwards, cross the road, stay to the left, and look for a wooden bridge. Go there, cross it, and continue on trail. You will notice after walking a short distance that the area becomes much more green and eventually you will run into the red trail. Continue on the red trail, up an incline, and past a lean-to (you can take a break if you want, but you are almost there!). Soon, the trail will turn to the left. Immediately on the right will be a red trail marker. Count this as marker number 1 and continue to count trail markers until number 6. Once you see the creek on the right, just after marker 6, take a diagonal path down towards the creek. Look for a thin tree, very close to the water, with roots exposed on the water side. The Persistent Monkey will be hidden within the roots. (Hint: just across the creek is a large tree with 3 live trunks).
