Directions to River St. Dam:
Take 495 to exit 21B, Upton. Go through set of lights, continue to follow West main St. (Hopkinton) you will pass two flower stands and a water tower, West Main St turns into Hopkinton RD (Upton) follow for approximately 1.6 miles, turn left onto School St., bear left onto North Main St( you will see Pratt Pond on your left) after the cemetery take your first left( River St) you will see the dam down the hill on your left.


Here’s the story of a confused Pirate name Joe, he went sailing one day on old Pratt Pond in hopes to find a new land to hide his booty. What he found was a dam with no where to go. Not knowing what to do, he turned to his fellow shipmates. They suggested that he hide the booty somewhere in the woods next to the pond. They searched high and low for the best spot until they came upon a unique idea. Here is where Pirate Joe hid his booty. Pirate Joe wrote down his directions to the spot in hopes to come back again to retrieve it. But alas he dropped the scroll that had them on it. This scroll was found by a child who lived near the dam but he could not find the mysterious booty. As he aged he passed the scroll down to his oldest son. To make a story short it was passed down through many ages and now is being shared with you, see if you can follow the directions to find Pirate Joe’s Booty!



Start at the River St Dam, Pratt Pond sign
Next follow the trail onto the woods
You soon will come to a fork in the trail
Follow the trail on the left until you find a momma tree and her baby
On your left, the trail continues
The trail will once again split into two paths
Follow the trail on the right going up the hill
Find two trees hugging
Continue on to find Pirate Joe’s unmade fort
Cross through it and find a circle of hope on the ground
Stand in the circle of hope and face the largest rock
Take 26-28 paces straight ahead to find a sleeping tree on a rock
Tickle its toes and you’ll find the booty!
