At the dedication of the Lady Bird Johnson Grove in Redwood National Park numerous dignitaries were present and/or took part in the ceremonies August 27, 1969. One of those present was the then governor of California, Ronald Reagan. Reputedly Reagan had said about redwoods, “You’ve seen one, you’ve seen ‘em all.” Apparently, although he was not an environmentalist he never uttered those precise words. However, he said something similar in 1966.

To find this letterbox drive to the beautiful Lady Bird Johnson Grove just north of Orick on Hwy. 101. Mr. Reagan’s letterbox, in recognition of his sentiments about redwoods, is not in the grove. It begins at the restroom. Walk NW from there to the first parking barrier which should be for a handicapped space. Look SW to the big tree 12 steps away and down. Walk around the back and look down to 6 smaller trunked tanbark oaks about 10 steps down. Go around to the right or west side. Reach in the center of these trunks under forest litter for the You’ve Seen One, You’ve Seen ‘Em All Letterbox.

Thanks for coming and close it up tight after stamping in.
