In the far left section of Skidmore's Evergreen Cemetery lies Mrs. Margaret Petrus-Ramsey, youngest daughter of Ferdinand and Laura Petrus of Skidmore. Margaret died suddenly at her home in Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday, Aug 2, 1930.
Margaret had just returned to Alabama after visiting her father and mother in Skidmore. Margaret officially died of ptomaine poisoning, but it was rumored her husband had been having an affair. The family suspected murder.
When Margaret's body arrived via train, her father Ferdinand was so distraught, he had to be forcibly removed from the path of the train.
