Walk difficulty: moderate, rocky mountain trail with some uphill
Walking distance: about 1/2 mile one way
Stamp hand-carved
Status: Alive and well on July 20, 2012

Travel about 20 miles south of Stanley on State Highway 75. Between mileposts 171 and 172 turn right (west) onto FR 208. Drive 2.2 miles to the Tin Cup Trailhead, following signs to Hiker Trailhead through the campground. (No fee at time of placement for parking).

At the Tin Cup Trail signboard head southwest up the trail. At the first intersection continue straight towards Yellow Belly Lake and Toxaway Lake. The trail will climb up. You will come to a single trunk Fir Tree on the right (bark beetle infested) and a live three-trunked Fir on the left. Continue on the trail through the open area (enjoying the view of the U-shaped glaciated valley on the left). At the edge of a forested area, continue a bit further to a large Fir on the left with a long deep blaze mark up about 6 feet. After stepping up over a large root from this tree, continue on the trail for about 19 steps to another Fir on the left. From the trailside of that tree walk up off trail at about 350 degrees (from mag. north) for about 30 steps to the lower end of a large fallen tree. The box is between the lower end of the fallen tree and a live tree and under a flat rock covered with some plant debris.

Please please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag), and put all of it INSIDE the box. Please rehide the box well under the rock and cover with some plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction.

Please take a different route back to the trail to help prevent creating unofficial/social/wildcat trails.

I will not be able to check on this box; so, please let me know if you find it, or if it needs attention or is missing:
