When I think of the hiding place for this box, several things spring to mind. Green fields, rolling hills, and nearby bluffs. The most beautiful little cemetery that you would ever want to see. And a town with the perfect name. Definitely a perfect place for this stamp, which was originally carved for the 2009 Great Lakes Gathering, entitled “All Things Green”.

Yes, that event took place on a warm spring day, but it wasn’t until mid-summer that we found a permanent home for the box. The inspiration for the box was a wonderful scene from Disney’s Fantasia 2000, where a green spirit of the forest is seen bringing life to the trees, plants and flowers. At the end of the piece, set to Igor Stravinsky’s “Firebird Suite”, the forest springs to life as the woodland sprite flits and flies across the valleys and fields, turning everything from deathly grey ash to abundant green life.

The box can be found in the cemetery that bears the town’s name. First, seek the lovely monument to Anna Harrison, adorned with a statue of a slender maiden, her head bowed, letting flowers fall from her hands. Next to Anna Harrison’s marker is the grave of James Watson, born in 1818 in Limerick, Ireland. “All Things Green,” indeed.

From Mr. Watson’s tomb, walk first to the restrooms, then to an old water pump. Take a compass bearing of 240 degrees, and locate the tree that the Sprite of Spring calls home.

Please re-hide well, and feel free to drop us a note!
