This is a great place to end with a picnic. The Beautiful Place is known by many other names….The Marsh, The Pond, Beaver Pond…. Our son name gave it the name of “The Beautiful Place” a few years ago when he was on a hike with his Dad.

This hike will take you about ½ hour out. You will start your adventure at Carpenter Park in Chichester. Carpenter Park is off of Route 28 (also known as Suncook Valley Road) to Bear Hill Road. Once you arrive at Carpenter Park, park your car.

It’s time to begin….looking at the basketball court you will see a Maple tree, across from that is the trail. (yes, on the other side of the road)

Begin walking the trail, it goes up hill to start. You will cross some mud (at this point you are walking behind the Chichester Town shed).

Follow the arrow to the right. Watch out for droppings (deer, moose, horse).

You will cross more water, remember it is very easy to go around.

After you cross some muck, you can walk on the rocks at the next stream.

You are approaching the Yellow Junction sign. At the yellow Junction sign stay to the right. The trail sign is orange if still hanging on the tree.

Continue to the right, soon you will see an open field on your left. Once you go up another small rocky hill at the top stop and look down at the horses in the field.

Soon you will hear the stream. Once you see the stream you can see the outside classroom for Chichester Central school across the stream.

You will soon see the opening to The Beautiful Place ahead. Once you have approached The Beautiful Place look for the turtle that sits on the rock, he is rather large and we call him “Snappy”.

Now it is time for your clues. Look on your left for 3 small trees (The Beautiful Place will be in front of you) 2 are together and one right next to them. Find a rock with moss, now look below.
