" This letterbox is box number four of a series of letterboxes originally placed by Elizabeth Bagdonas and Judy Loether and published in the Bolton Common, Bolton, Massachusetts' local newspaper, during the summer of 2000.

Part of the inspiration of the original series was to introduce locals to the wonderful resources of the conservation lands in their area. Since the original focus for these letterboxes was the local community several of the clues have "local references", we have made minor modifications to the original clues to correct for changes that have taken place in the local conditions but have attempted to preserve the challenge and creativity found in the original clues. We hope you take up this challenge and use the resources available to you on the Internet and elsewhere to solve the riddles and stamp in. "

Box adopted & clues updated as of 5/30/13:

South of the ledges; North Peak Summit Rocks.

Be sly like a fox to find this box.

On the decline from the summit rocks/ledges, look to the right for a young gray birch growing out of a fungi-ridden boulder and a V-oak behind it.

Walk off-trail to the right & around the ledge to the oak-boulder-birch set.

Right of the V-oak is a slanted flat rock where suicidal maniacs reside.

Note: The North Peak Summit Rocks are not really at the summit.

You may find the information at http://www.townofbolton.com/pages/BoltonMA_Conservation/trail_maps/Index helpful in solving this puzzle. Having the actual trail guide is very useful.
