This is one in a series of boxes planted in the state game lands of northeastern Pennsylvania. If you seek this box, please be aware of hunting seasons. I recommend wearing blaze orange any time of year. I don't recommend seeking this box during deer season, except on Sundays.
State Game Lands 129 is located in Carbon and Monroe Counties, very near the Boulder Field area of Hickory Run State Park. From the intersection of PA routes 534 and 903 in Albrightsville, go 1.3 miles north on 903 to the parking lot on the right. Careful - that parking lot sneaks up on you.
Clues:
* After parking, carefully cross 903 on foot, and see a fading sign that says something like "Hickory Run Boulder Field 4 miles."
* Follow the trail at 300*. This trail is variously marked orange and blue. But it's tricky. Make sure you pay attention to the blazes.
* You won't make it the full 4 miles to the boulder field, but about 1/4 mile in, you'll walk on a mini-boulder field on the trail.
* Just past this brief boulder field, stand atop a mound just to the right of the trail.
* From the mound, 9 paces at 35* to a hemlock.
* Finally, 5 paces at 50* to a U-tree.
* SPOR on left.
Please rehide well.
This is a much shorter hike than most SGL boxes. But this trail is so tricky to follow, I didn't want to send folks in too deep. Yet it's a beautiful area.
