RISK DISCLAIMER: Bugs, poison ivy, snakes
DIFFICULTY: Easy
VISIBILITY: Could be high, usually low
CLUE:
First, please visit Alvord Cemetery in Alvord, Texas, on the northwest side of Dallas. The cemetery is pretty easy to find from the downtown square, just ask anyone or follow the signs.
Once at the cemetery, start at the big tall sign made from bricks that marks the name and date the cemetery was established. This is located near one of the entrance gates. Facing that, turn right and follow the road around the outside edge of the cemetery, almost all the way around.
Keep an eye out for a headstone with last name Flanery.
Once you've found that, park the car and then go stand facing that stone. To confirm, it is for Mittie Hobdy Flanery, born Feb. 10, 1874 and died Dec. 22, 1927. While you stand facing her stone, look diagonally to the left a medium-sized distance away.
You'll see a large tree with some bushes around it, and three stones to the right/behind that. Head over that way.
To confirm, these three stones are as follows:
Large stone on left is Matthews
Small stone in the middle - Mollie Tucker, born July 20, 1841
Small stone on the right - J.H. Tucker, born Jan. 22, 1842
Once you are standing there looking at those three stones, you can look down and notice there is a nice little concrete border on the ground that will be great to sit on.
When you are turned around and sitting on that (with Matthews behind you), you will be directly facing the tree/bush where the box is.
Thanks for looking!
While you are in the area, I have two other boxes that are close enough to drive to easily. These are At Sunset and Krazy Maze.
