Spider in the Park LbNA #: 48400
CluesThere's a intersection in Kitchener where a type of silver meets a brook the colour of frogs...The pond you're looking for is in the park here.
Start on a path beside a pond, near a building where the water gets treated. The City of Kitchener recently considered declaring part of this wooded park "surplus" to be sold to developers, until a group of community residents organized and protested to city council!
Walk down the little dead end driveway and proceed to a bench that says "true", near a metal pole with no sign attached.
Turn right and follow the grass and trees along the edge of the pond as it narrows and heads out towards a street.
Continue on past two majestic willow trees on your right. It's well worth going over to take a closer look at the amazing trunks on these. There's a great hole in one trunk to hide a letterbox in, but I didn't want someone to put their hand in and find out it was already inhabited by stinging things!
As the pond reaches the road you'll see a huge dead tree on the other side, with five branches the size of trunks sticking into the sky. You'll also see two water drain holes and a cage.
Just adjacent to those, in the grass on your side of the pond, you'll see a log on the ground, at the end of which you'll find the box.
August 21/10 - just replaced the old box with a dry one. Someone please let me know if the new one disappears or the contents are sopping wet.
