Some of the best hinking trails in Montana are located just outside of Bozeman near Gallatin Gateway. One of our families favorites is Hellroaring. Take hwy 191 out of Bozeman towards Gateway travel past the Indian Ridge trail and you will come to the Hellroaring trail marker on the right side of the hwy. This trail is a easy to moderate trail that begins with switchbacks climbing up the hill followed by a downhill stretch that takes you to the bridge over Hellroaring Creek.
To find the box travel up the trail turning on 6 sets of switchbacks, this will take you to the crest of the mountain before you head down the hill to the creek crossing. At the top of the hill right as you turn to go downhill there is a set of 3 trees with a rock collection at the base. Near the tree the rocks are nestled against there is a shelf in the rock where the box is planted. The box is well hidden by several smaller rocks stacked on top of it. Please secure the box well when you are finnished so the critters don't find it. Happy Hunting.
