Hiking Time: About 30 minutes
Terrain: Grassy and dirt trails through meadow & woods. Some small hills and stairs.

We heard that there would be “A Hair-Raising Adventure” in Angola at the end of May; something called a letterboxing event. Although the park name really appealed to me, I wasn’t so sure about it, since we had never been to an event before. However my friend is much braver and he really liked the theme (some people call him a “green slab of clay”), so off we went! I hoped it wouldn’t turn into the “Northland Follies”… From alognA we headed north, following Hwy 127. When we got to 400N we thought we were close, so headed east to see what we could find. In less than half a mile we saw a parking area on the north side. This looked like it might be the spot, a place of safety for our feathered friends and the site of several trails.

A bird flew by and told us that we were less than a mile from the event park. It seems we shouldn’t have turned onto 400N. If we had gone only a bit further north on Hwy 127 we’d have found the park entrance.

I’m “A Little Lost Pony”! but now I’m “In a Fix” - lost and late. Can you find me? I had started at the signboard, then took the trail west along the fence line. I kept to the left at both intersections I came to, then crossed a bridge. Later I saw a rusted fence on the left. When the fence ended I crawled under a log on the right side of the trail, near a tree close to the log. If you want to pay me a visit, please don’t make a trail to my spot, but approach from a variety of directions.

The bird told me that after I was done resting I could continue around the loop, descending the hill, keeping right at the next two intersections, and then taking the trail down in front of a building. After climbing some stairs she said I should head left to get back to the signboard.

I guess it was “Wishful Thinking” to think we’d make it to the event. I guess we were just too pokey! However we’ll be happy here - just two “Odd Balls”, hanging out at the wrong park.
