This letterbox is part of the GO York Kids Get Outdoors and Be Creative! program. It will be available from June 6, 2009 – September 7, 2009. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.
In addition, the program uses creativity stations – wooden posts with engraved plates on them – instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please carefully rub the impression from the engraved plate into the program Sketch Book, available at any York County library.
The letterbox is located at Shelley Park (Newberry Township). GO York Kids level of difficulty = Easy
1. Locate the paved path by the blue portable toilet and start your adventure from here.
2. Follow the path to the flagpole and, once there, look for the red barn.
3. Walk on the paved path that leads toward the barn. When you reach the next path, turn right and walk a short distance to the bench.
4. Turn left at the bench and walk along the path toward the basketball court.
5. When you reach the basketball court, walk along the side without a fence and up the hill. You should be walking toward a wooden post.
6. Turn left at the wooden post and walk downhill along the nature trail.
7. Continue along the nature trail as it winds downhill and to the right.
8. When you reach the bench “without a back,” look for the creativity station in the corner of the small field behind it.
