This letterbox is part of the GO York Kids Get Outdoors and Be Creative! program. It will be available from June 6, 2009 – September 7, 2009. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.

In addition, the program uses creativity stations – wooden posts with engraved plates on them – instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please carefully rub the impression from the engraved plate into the program Sketch Book, available at any York County library.

The letterbox is located at Kline's Run Park (Lower Windsor Township). GO York Kids level of difficulty = Moderate

NOTE (6/18/09): The fallen tree referred to in clues #8 and #9 was recently removed by park maintenance staff. A jagged stump is now located where the tree once was. Stand at this stump, facing away from the river, and continue with clue #9.

1. Start at the multi-colored play area near the lower parking lot.
2. Facing uphill, look to your right and locate a red marker post in the distance. Walk to this post.
3. Continue about 10 adult paces past the post to a small group of rocks in the ground.
4. With your back to the river, walk to the green map post located at 11:00. Write down the number ¬¬¬__ __ __ located in the bottom right corner. You will need this number later.
5. Turn around. Are there any sailboats on the river? Imagine what it would be like to sail a big boat. What would the boat look like?
6. Turn back around. You will notice that you are near the intersection of two paved paths that form an upside-down “T.” Walk carefully across the first path and stay on the right side of the second path until you reach the crooked tree with two large trunks/branches.
7. Next to the tree is another green post. Stand next to this sign and look for 2 red marker posts downhill on your left. (You may need to look around trees.)
8. Walk to the lower post and sit, facing away from the river, on the trunk of the large fallen tree near the post.
9. As you sit on this fallen tree, you will notice a steeper hill in front of you. Below that hill is a tree stump that is about 4 feet high. Walk to the stump.
10. Remember those numbers you wrote down before. Switch the last two numbers __ __ and walk about that many adult paces up the hill to locate the creativity station.
