This letterbox is part of the GO York Kids Get Outdoors and Be Creative! program. It will be available from June 6, 2009 – September 7, 2009. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.
In addition, the program uses creativity stations – wooden posts with engraved plates on them – instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please carefully rub the impression from the engraved plate into the program Sketch Book, available at any York County library.
The letterbox is located at Farquhar Park (York City). GO York Kids level of difficulty = Easy
1. Park in the small parking lot on the corner of Newberry Street and Madison Avenue near the “Feeding of Waterfowl Prohibited” sign.
2. Walk through the grass toward Kiwanis Lake. Carefully cross the sidewalk and stop at the flagpole.
3. At the flagpole, turn left and follow the sidewalk along the water’s edge
4.Count the number of lampposts. When you reach the 4th lamppost, turn left and walk over the grass past the bench to the “Liberty Garden Memorial”.
5. Walk up the steps and turn right onto the paved path.
6. Pass the lamp post and go directly to where pictures are larger than life. The creativity station is located near here.
