This letterbox is part of the GO York Kids Get Outdoors and Be Creative! program. It will be available from June 6, 2009 – September 7, 2009. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.

In addition, the program uses creativity stations – wooden posts with engraved plates on them – instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please carefully rub the impression from the engraved plate into the program Sketch Book, available at any York County library.

The letterbox is located at Cousler Park (Manchester Township). GO York Kids level of difficulty = Easy

1. Enter the park from the Greenbriar Road entrance and park in the lot.
2. Look for the sign with the map of the park areas on it and locate field #14.
3. Walk along the paved paths to the field and find the “Field 14” sign.
4. Look for the birdhouse box closest to the sign and go in the direction the front of the box is facing.
5. Before you reach the power lines you will see a drain grate with a blue tag. Look into the drain for the largest pipe and follow that pipe until it empties into a cement drain ditch.
6. Follow the cement ditch – but do not walk in it – until you come to a bridge. Go to the lightpost next to this bridge and look for the next closest light pole.
7. Follow the paved path in that direction.
8. Look for a bench on this path with a “Surprise” and sit down.
9. Look straight ahead - in the distance will be a similar bench dedicated to “Clair”. Walk over to that bench and sit down again. To your right and in the distance again (you may have to walk to the top of the grass mound) will be a drinking fountain attached to a brick building.
10. Walk toward the fountain. When you reach it, look for the widest path away from the fountain and follow it.
11. Look ahead for a group of trees and find the Red Oak tree on the left end of the row. Behind that tree is a pile of brush and an older oak tree. The creativity station is located there.
