Wetmore Landing Blueberries:

Level of difficulty: easy, maybe about 20 minutes round trip, not counting time needed to play on the beach.
Terrian: flat to slightly rolling
Scenic Quality: Excellent!!!!

Wetmore Landing is a piece of State owned land just north of Marquette along Lake Superior. Its fabulous for swimming, hanging out on the beach, hanging out with family, the kids, friends. Take time bring the suntan lotion and stay a while at this box! Bring your dog but keep it leashed! This is where the locals go.

Clues: On CR 550, head north from Marquette. About 3+ miles out of town you'll see the sign and parking lot for SugarLoaf Mountain. Clock 1.1 miles past Sugar Loaf and watch for a small brown sign that points east (right) to Wetmore Landing. Park and hike the trail all the way down to the lake. You'll see a split rail fence at the beach. Follow the fence to the left (north). Stay on the trail past the fence and look for a gigantic rock on your left with a rock outcropping crossing over the path! At this point you should have the giant rock on your left and a view of the Marquette power plant across the bay to your right. From this rock outcropping over the path, count 38 paces (1 pace = 2 steps) to a dog leg turn left. From this turn, continue an additional 12 paces and stop. There should be these landmarks on your right... first, a large boulder and secondly, 2 red pine. One red pine is next to the trail, the second is about 6 feet from the trail - this tree appears to be growing right out of a rock! The 2 trees and the large boulder will form a triangle. In the middle of this triangle is a tumble of smaller rocks. The treasure you seek is in the magic triangle beneath 2 rocks in a crevice.
