I served 21 years between the Army and Army National Guard and served in Saudi during Desert Sheild/Storm. Thsi Memorial Day it really stuck me how many soldiers/ sailors had lived and served before me. This is a small thank you to them.
Find Ball Hill Cemetary in Cutler, Indiana
Park on the right- start on west end on right Headed south in row 8, 4 down find Jerome R. Kelly died in combat in Vietnam age 23 Two more rows down next to fence is Kenneth L. Kelly WWII- MM1 Navy
Find the Draper headstone- it's very tall with a funny shape 3 rows to the south find PFC Gilbert Rogers US Army - Korea
In the far south corner the FIVECOATES marker- the church that used to sit here is pictured on this marker. My husband tells me the church divided and one side wanted to buy the church the other side tore it down rather than sell it.
Travel down this last row north and see Larence E. Hefner US Army -Vietnam
Cross the road and look left to see the Stephens (large orange) Peter Stephens was a civil war vet.
Go to the oblisk where you find Gary Dayton Laws, who served as Attorney General of Florida 1930-1938, who died in office and a beautiful tribute to his wife.
Head west to the Milburn Grave. Andrew Milburn was also a civil war veteran.
From this marker head to the drive walking west. I noticed Sadie Micheal headstone because it looks like a tree stump.
Continue west and see John W. Ayres civil war veteran, continiung along across the parking lot go past the huge blue spruce on your left. Turn left and head down the hill and you'll come to William R. Evermore a veteran of the Spanish American War. Head back up to the road and in row 6 on the right soldiers PFC Lloyd L. Granger WWI between the hedges.
Six rows due east is William A. Foist, Co. D 502nd parchute Regiment, 101st Airborne.
continue to road and find PFC Franklin Everett-Vietnam- battery B 4th Anti-Aircraft Battalion.
Two rows east and in front of the pines is Orem C. Everett WWII.
Next to the pines is the brothers- David and Donald Clem both veterans.
Behind the pines is Sgt. James Harold Arnold- US Army WWII
Next row headed toward row Joseph w. Pearson, Korea- Battery 3, US Navy
Three rows east is Frank Jr. Sheagle and joseph Carroll (Kay) Reef- WWII
Two rows east we spoke with Lana Jo Boston- she ws working on her spouses grave and was having intense problems with a dead root. Toadby and I pitched in and pulled it for her. There is nothing like teh high giving someone help out of the blue. the reward of her smile was priceless. Her spopuse James Edwin Boston served in the army in Berlin and had just gotten out when Vietnam broke out. The Sheagley's are her family also.
Behind him is Joseph A. brown Sgt. WWII
Travel sw, opposite side of road and see the the large tall monument.Three rows in front of this is the Tinkle grave. Five markers down is Nathan Patty Co. C. I Ind. infantry Mexican-American War.
Head to the far northeast corner, two trees have included the fence line in to their bark. Behind the smaller tree is where you find "The Book of the Son"
