The following letterbox is part of the GO York "Get Outdoors and Be Creative!" program. It will only be available between June 6, 2009 and September 7, 2009. To participate in the program, please pick up your official "Get Outdoors and Be Creative! Sketch Book at any York County library.

In addition, this program uses creativity stations - a wooden marker post with an engraved plate on it - instead of a traditional letterbox. Please make sure to have a crayon with you to carefully rub the picture in your Sketch Book. Further information about the "Get Outdoors and Be Creative!" program may be found at www.goyork.org.

This creativity station is located at Rocky Ridge County Park. GO York Kids level of difficulty = 2

1. Park in the Hidden Laurel Picnic Area parking lot near the entrance.
2. Locate the trail near the “Bus Parking / Pedestrian Path” sign.
3. Walk down the 3 earthen steps and begin your adventure on the trail.
4. Continue walking straight at the 1st split and to the right at the 2nd split (there will be a small boulder in the “V” of the path).
5. Follow this trail as it crosses over trail #7. You will be on a dirt-covered/earthy path that winds through the forest.
6. Be aware of mountain bike riders who use this trail! When you hear them nearby, step to the side of the trail so they can ride past.
7. Continue walking as you pass by moss-covered logs on your right and, farther along, a fallen tree on your left with its roots exposed to the trail. You may notice that the dirt path has started to become rocky.
8. Walk until you reach the place where larger rocks cross the trail and you will need to carefully walk/climb over them.
9. Continue on the trail past the boulders on your right.
10. The trail will begin to go down the hill. Stay to the right as it splits it a fallen log and continue to the bottom of the hill. (You will pass another trail on your right. Do not take it, but remember its location for the return trip)
11. As you walk back uphill, you will notice that the trail is again rocky. You will pass a fallen tree on your left and other trees growing in the middle of the path.
12. Continue to the top of the hill and to the field of boulders in front and to the right of you.
13. Turn to your right and locate a large boulder that, when looked at from the side, looks like an eagle’s beak.
14. The creativity station is on the hill behind the eagle’s beak boulder.
15. To return to the parking lot, either:
a. Retrace your steps back down the hill. You will notice a trail (the one you had to remember before) on your left. Turn left on this trail and follow it back to the picnic area and parking lot.
b. Retrace all of your steps, remembering to stay to the right at the trail split. (Longer – 0.76 miles)
