This letterbox was designed, and the stamp carved, by our 7 year old Grandson, Chase. He was p.k.a."Boo". He is in Little League and wanted to have a box about this favorite pasttime of his.
This box is planted at Nichols Field on Rte. 149 in Moodus, CT, where his team holds their practices. It is on the left shortly after a hairpin curve as you head out of Moodus, going towards Rte. 16 in Westchester. If you pass the Transfer station, you have gone a bit too far.
As you enter the parking lot, there is a large field directly in front of you. Go to the left side. With your back towards the back stop(the tall section of chain link fence), look towards the opposite side of the parking area at about 240*, into the "woods".Choose your path carefully- there is ALOT of poison ivy along the edge of the grassy strip. Find the tree that has a yellow disc on it that is right in front of a stone wall. The disc mentions leaving Open Space in East Haddam. In the wall, directly behind the tree and a trap door is the Fireball Letterbox.
Thanks for coming and Happy Boxing!
