Sugar Bush,

Our 4th Grade Class went to Yoder’s Maple Sugar Bush this year on a field trip where we learned all about collecting sap to make maple syrup. So, we chose a Maple Leaf as our class stamp for Letterboxing. (This box was missing, I had a ladybug stamp on me when I went to check on it -- it is now a ladybug stamp.) We hope you enjoy the grounds surrounding Mabel K Holland Elementary School, (Fort Wayne Community Schools,) as you search for our letterbox. We feel very fortunate to have such beautiful property surrounding our school with which to hide our treasure. Have fun!

To begin:
Park on the North end of the school parking lot.
Take me out to the Ball Game – Let’s hit a Homerun! It’s out of the ball park!
Walk from home plate 12 O’clock straight out to the first tallest tree you come to.
Now, you are close to our pond. Take a stroll and have a seat.
Sitting on the dock at the edge of the pond, you might spot Yertle, the turtle. (Mrs. Barr’s class released a painted turtle in this pond last year.) We studied crayfish in our science unit; if you look carefully, you might spot a few too.
When you are done watching the wildlife, stroll north around the pond.
Find the birdhouse with the best view of the sunset.
Continue around the pond towards the school.
You might notice a shortage of blood sucking pests. Look for the black box and you’ll find the killer’s nest. It’s in the air, most people they scare; but to hit a homerun, you must have one.
Back to the dock, now again that tall tree. Head 74 pace N/NW– a tree awaits to guide your way.
From here, you’re nearly there. You won’t need math to find this path, head to the trees now, if you please.
The inside trail makes an east/west split.
Go west my friends, on your left, approximately 25 large paces, you will find; a V-shaped tree awaiting thee.
Get down on your knees, beneath the debris, the letterbox you seek awaits thee. It is in a small cube blue box at the base of the tree.
