Today I decided to go on a journey. I wanted to explore one of my favorite local parks full of history and memories for many. I started out at the Memorial at Lenape Park. This Park runs across Lake Lenape that stretches between two towns. The town of Sellersville and the town of Perkasie. The Memorial starts out on the Sellersville side.

Box #1

From the memorial, which always reminds me of all the times we say the Pledge of Allegiance during our Brownie Meetings, I took the path to the left. At the first tree (I think a Walnut) I took thirteen steps towards the water between two trees to a cluster of three. In the base of a tree close to the water is the American Flag waving proudly.

Following down the path at an intersection near the boy scout cabin I went left over the bridge. Following the road, the boy scout cabin had me thinking of my daisy & brownie days, and all the Try-Its and community service I have accomplished in the past few years. So with those thoughts in mind at the point where the road meets the path for a second time I went right along the houses. After passing five trees on my right I came to a six trunk tree. Inside you’ll find my vest.

Continuing down the path passing a bench on my right I then saw a small trail ducking into a wooded area. It looked like a great place to rest and have a cookie. I thought of all the hard work I have done selling cookies to raise money for my troop and service unit. At the “V” go right and at the next “V” go left passing a log to your right and a fallen tree straight ahead. The log to your right and the fallen tree make a “T” and at the base of the “T” inside this log is my cookie.

*May be very swampy if it rained
Going back where I came from I continued down the path crossing the bridge which reminded me of my run across the cookie bridge holding my breath and making a wish when I was a Daisy. I crossed over the road still on the path passing the ball fields on my right. At the intersection I went left along Lake Lenape. In this direction I passed a bench on my left going 39 paces. I then passed a cluster of trees one then two next to each other and then one by itself all close to the path. Then there will be two trees that were parallel to each other. Stand between these two trees take a bearing of 320°. Step over a log and then an arched log. To the left a bit is a bunch of logs. In a hollowed out log find my memory of my hiking at Camporee.

Box #5

Back on the path to a five trunk tree you’ll see a path leading to a stone house up on the hill. Take the path and as you cross the remains of the house down below you’ll see a white tree with a hollowed out base. Next to the tree is a rock resting against it naturally Do Not Remove or Move This Rock. Under it tuck in between the rock and the tree like a Brownie in a test is a rock door. Open the door to the tent to find the box.

Box #6

On to the path again I went left passing a green cage. Soon after you’ll see a trail heading up. Cross over a stump in the trail. To the right you’ll pass a large tree with a broken thin tree next to it. Shortly after there is a thin tree to the right. Stop. Up the hill to the left at 270° you’ll see a large tree. Go up and around this tree. To the left is a large up rooted tree. In the roots is my memory of water fun I’ve had with my leader at Camporee.

Steep Climbing
Back on the path and going left I continued to stroll. Looking at the beautiful water where the swans use to play and where ducks still do. I Love the ducks and how as a Brownie we went to Lake Galena and took plaster castings of deer and duck prints in the mud as a part of my Animal Try-It. Every year there is a Duck Derby here as well. Soon I saw a steep hill to my left and at the top of this steep hill in the woods was a fort made of rock.. Climbing towards this fort, but before getting to the fort look to your right for a shaggy tree. Next to the shaggy tree you’ll see a log. Under the log you’ll find my duck derby.

Box #8

Back to the path pass a bench to the left and go pass the twin bridges. To the left is a pavilion where I saw teenagers smoking. That reminded me of how my sister who is a girl scout was working hard on a project in her troop for a quit smoking awareness rally. Take the trail behind the pavilion. On the trail you’ll find a telephone pole. Behind the pole is a grand tree and in the base of the tree behind a rock is my sign.

Box #9

Back to the path and left you’ll come to a building and a parking lot. Follow the parking lot to the covered bridge. This bridge was built in 1832 and later moved to preserve it in 1958. Seeing all these numbers reminded me of how many boxes cookies I have sold. At the entrance to the bridge look toward the street bridge straight ahead. You’ll see an old very crooked tree. Look inside to see how many cookies I have sold.

Box #10

I turned around and decided I want to cross over those beautiful white twin bridges. After crossing the bridges I went left and I followed the road to the entrance of the park. I was a good girl scout and helped a women cross the cross walk. As a reward she gave $2 and I stopped to get ice cream. I remembered the ice cream party my troop had as a reward for trying so hard together to collect plastic lids for a boy who needed them for dialysis. Picking up the path again on the right side of the water across from the Dairy Queen, I started to stroll (if you have stayed on the path then you did not cross the stone street bridge and your going the right way). I passed two green benches and kept on going. At the path intersection I went left. Walking through the fenced path I stopped at the last post of the fence on my right. Taking a baring of 220° to a four trunk tree is my sundae.

Box #11

Continue on the path past the house on the left towards the Tot Lot. On your right you’ll find a Three trunk tree and a two trunk tree. Stop and take a bearing of 345° to a small trail into the woods. Behind a two trunk tree to the left is an ancient hollowed out tree that you can walk into. Up inside is my sign that I made at the Cookie Rally Round Up. **This tree after all the years we hid in it fell right before the first letterboxer found it. The boxer informed us and it is still in that tree just up in the bent part if the trunk until we find a new cool place to hide it.

Box #12

Staying on the path I went down under the bridge and could here the soft sounds of music coming from the South Perk Hotel Restaurant. It reminded me of the music that I danced to with my Daddy at the Me & My Guy Dance. Crossing under the bridge and still on the path I came to a split rail fence to my right and shortly after I could hear the sounds of rushing water from the waterfall to my left. After the waterfall was a tree close to the path I took 8 paces to a five trunk tree. Inside where all the trunks meet is a bright white rock under the rock you’ll find Me & My Guy.

Box #13

After today’s great adventure I feel that anyone who has followed me should earn their own Try-It. After the tree I followed the path around the bend to a great big bridge that is rusted and old. I crossed and followed the path to the right just like I did when we went to the water company to learn about how water is a natural resource that should be cared for. We learned many things about water and made scopes to look in the water with. This is how I earned my Water is Everywhere Try-It. As I approach a building to my left I saw a row of pines and went to the first pine tree. I took a bearing of 280° and saw a large tree with a arm to rest upon. Where the arm meets the torso is where you’ll earn your Try-It. I hope you enjoyed my adventure and to think I have many more to come.
