Valley Stream? Glen Creek? What was the name of the park? Did it really matter there were so few in this little town anyway. If anyone decided to look for my lost compass it should be hard to figure out. I had been lured there by a man with a little pug dog, he had lured me on other such fools' errands. I had actualy spent a good deal of time here looking for other mysteries to no avail.
I stopped at the restroom before heading out on the trail. All RHLB's know you never pass up the chance to potty. I spotted the trail with no trouble even though it was not marked. It stated out as almost a road but then narrowed. When presented with a choice of ways to go I always chose right.
I had passed one short down hill but now with the sound of the creek becoming audible was a much longer downhill.
I walked all the way to the creek and enjoyed this quiet little respite. Other quests lured me on so I took out my compass and decided to proceed north. As I turned to follow the compass arrow I noticed a wall I had not seen on my way down the trail. It lay to my right just off the trail. I walked to the end of it and poned what it must have been. I set my compass down on the top of the colum at the end.
I was distracted by something moving in the woods and followed the sound, olny a squirrel. I started to find my way back and took many side turnings just to explore. When I reached the car I realized I didn't have my compass. Oh well, I have lost many other things on the trail, hiking sticks, pens evne my car keys.
I think i must have pushed the compass off the top ot the post to the north as I left and so didn't see it.
If anyone chooses to hike these little woods let me know if you find it. It is not a long hike, if you just went out and back it might take half an hour.
