fyi there are no trails in this area so be prepared for some bushwacking.
you've been truckin all day long to get to fox lake il and your at the dock but the dock workers are at lunch,so what to do you drop the trailer and start bob tailing north of grand avenue on rt 12 since you have a hour to kill why not launch a canoe but where?you go past a old boat factory[kramer wooden boat factory] on the left and 1 of only 2 waterfront american legion halls on your right and your hammering down and see a sign for a state park but its a green light and not wanting to stop you keep going maybe the next one.WOW another green light so you keep going past fox lake but its getting late and you need to find a place before sunset so you eyeing the right side of the road and you find the perfect spot as you pull in you check your speed just in case the local are taking pictures and as you follow the road you see a "no trucks sign" so you pull over and park to the right and by foot you keep going to the red building on the right and walk up to it, standing under the women sign take a reading of 100 degrees to find a red rock by the base of a tree and from there 140 degrees to a down limb and behind it youll find the chain o lakes flower at one time almost all of grass lake was completly covered by this flower back in the early 1900s you could take a nickel tour on a steam boat thru the flower beds unfortunally very few of these flowers remain
