This box is placed at a COUNTY park just northeast of the Village of Blue Mounds on County Highway F.

Enter the trail system near the campsites, leading to Brigham Woods. At the first fork in the trail, go left down trail 1 (red). Pass several signs pointing out interesting nature facts. After you pass the sign about wildflowers, you will be heading downhill. After the trail levels off, you will cross a mysteriously grassy patch of trail in the middle of the woods. Here you best get out your most observant eyes. A short way down the trail, there will be a dead elm (don't these host a particularly tasty type of fungi?) on the left side of the trail with a tee-pee shaped bare spot where the bark is missing. A short way further is a ~10ft tree trunk on the right side of the trail. Stop at the tree trunk and turn back down the trail. Return 10 paces down the trail (to the tee-pee tree) and an additional 20 paces. Turning to the right you will see a large cherry tree with a swollen and split belly. Is that where all those tasty mushrooms went?
