PAM PREPARES FOR MOTHERHOOD

These were originally baby shower boxes for my friend, Music Woman. I thought that planting them on Mothers’ Day was appropriate; the clues took a few days longer to get “born.”

About an hour of lovely woods walking. There is one logbook, in the final box. Bring ink! Coordinate with other boxes in this area, if you can!

Park at the entrance to Canfield Woods Preserve in Deep River, on Route 154. Park and enter the woods by the sign board.

Cruise down the yellow trail, soon crossing the tracks. Watch out for the Essex Steam Train! Soon after the tracks, there will be a short stonewall on your right. Look behind the second stone from the far end for a Stroller.

Next, take the blue trail, on your right. Immediately, there will be a ledge to your left. at the intersection. There is a tree growing from a mossy part. 2 steps left of that tree, at ground level, look behind a slanted stone for a Teddy Bear.

Continue on the blue trail. It goes left and down, then right and up. There will be an interesting ledge to your left. When the ledge ends, look left for a small ledge 20 steps off of the trail. Look there, at the foot of a two-sister tree, for a Baby Toy.

Continue, still on blue. It will curve left, twist about, but stay on it. Gradually go down, down, to a signboard where yellow, red and blue intersect. Go left, on yellow, a little way. Just before a downhill section, look to the right for a tree with a hole at its bottom. A Car Seat is inside, under bark.

Continue your downhill trend. Come to an interesting split rock pile, right on the trail. Look for 2 slanted/touching rocks right in front, at ground level. Look deep between them for Baby Herkimer! This one must be re-hidden very well. At this point I heard the steam whistle in the distance!

Continue around the pile to the right, over the tracks and back to your car wihin 10 minutes. Good luck to Pam and her soon-to-be baby!
