I wonder how many trees were destroyed by the incredible McKenzie Lava Flow – when I look at different sections of this huge flow my imagination sees the ghosts of those ancient trees. The stamps in this box were carved so you can put them back – as many as you want! Use a black stamp for the background, shades of green for the ghost trees.

To find the box you need to park in a turn-out on the side of highway 126 in the vicinity of the junction of 20 and 126. Take into account that this area was covered with snow when I placed the box, and I had no idea there was a larger area for cars visible when there is no snow.
HEADING EAST: Start paying attention after you pass through McKenzie Bridge and go by the turn-off for Belknap Springs. Go 3.7 miles past the turn-off for Trail Bridge Campground to a turn-out on the right side of 126 and park. The turn-out is just after the crest of an uphill climb.
HEADING WEST: Go past the Santiam Junction (highways 20/126/22) – if you are coming from Sisters you will be following the signs towards Eugene. Start paying attention at the junction of 20 and 126 – again go towards Eugene on 126. After 3.5 miles you will see signs for Clear Lake Resort & Picnic Area – keep going 3 more miles to a turn-out on the left side of 126. If traffic allows, cross the east-bound lane and park there; if there is a lot of traffic you may need to go past the turn-out and turn around when you can.

Once parked at the turn-out described above stand at the base of Mr. Topknot (again, don't forget I was not in the large circular parking area when I placed this box; I was in a "turn-out" on the highway). Take about 13 paces at 140 degrees magnetic to find the cedar and fir that were once married but have apparently gotten a divorce; this once happy couple seem to be attempting to go their separate ways. From the home of this couple look 90 degrees magnetic to spot something that is larger than most, if not all, of those surrounding it – you will see two much smaller somethings on either side, and you will also see 3 black objects (2 large and 1 not so large) sitting to the right of it. Once you think you know where you’re headed, take about 70 paces to get there. After you reach the large “something” you should be able to see 3 more “objects” at its base that you could not see from the home of the couple. Stand facing the “something” with these “objects” between it and you. The box is under the center “object” on your right.

Please hide the box from view before you leave.
