ALAN KULWICKI MEMORIAL LETTERBOX ***MISSING 9/2004***
Second in the M&B Sports Series

Placed by: Mystic Jade, Moofie and Blaze.
Date Placed: July 2, 2003
County: Milwaukee
Nearest City: Greenfield WI
Terrain: Flat and easy
Time: approx. 1 hour

Go to Alan Kulwicki Memorial Park at Hwy 100 (South 108th Street) and Cold Spring Rd. Park anywhere in the lot and walk up to the clubhouse at the far south end. Read the plaque on the south side of the doors for info on Wisconsin's very own Nascar champion and possibly a clue or two. Pay particular attention to the number of races and pole positions.

From the north end of the clubhouse turn to the northeast and cut across the grass, past the playground and walk towards the big brown sign. Coincidentally, the name on the sign is also the name of another Wisconsite currently racing in the Nascar Busch series. Turn to the east and follow the sidewalk over the bridge. When you reach the intersection subtract the number of poles from the number of races and turn in the direction that compass heading indicates.

Continue in this direction and cross under the lines on which you cannot stand - an "electrifying" experience! Pass under the raceway intended for us regular folk. As you pass under the first bridge look to your rear and to the left. Thank us for not making you walk up there - that was an initial choice for hiding, but moofie hated walking up there :) .You should now be surrounded by the sound of engines. Imagine yourself leading the field to the checkered flag as you cross the wooden bridge. You are now close to the finish. As you round the final turn use caution because it can be "slippery when wet". At the "Union 76" bridge turn left into the "pit". Climb the rocks to where cement meets stones. About 3 feet to the left of the 2nd stone you will see a bunch of little rocks between 2 large ones. Remove the little stones to find victory lane.

Stamp up and replace the box, making sure all of the little stones are in place to keep the box hidden. There is a lot of traffic on this path, so be aware of other "racers." Now if you are feeling a bit hungry or thirsty feel free to go to the Hooters Restaurant on 76th and Layton Ave. Enjoy some wings, a beverage and a look at some Alan Kulwicki memorabilia.
