When I lived in Alabama one of my favorite flowering trees was the Evergreen Magnolia. The large blooms give off a lemony fragrance that just fills the air.

This box is planted in tribute to this "Southern Beauty".

Take Route 27 out of Canton. The road forks at Waterman Hill, take the fork to the right towards DeGrasse. Follow Route 27 all the way to the town of Claire. Watch for the brown "Lampson Falls" sign on your right. There is a parking area just before the trailhead, you can park there.

Follow the trail to the only "intersection", you will pass over 3 small "bridges" and be sure to sign in shortly after entering the trail. At the "intersection" you will be able to hear the falls.

If you go left, you can get some good pictures of the calm waters and trees just above the falls.

If you take the straight trail it will bring you to a "handicapped" trail to the overlook. This is a great place to get pictures of the falls up close. Any handicapped in your party may want to remain at this overlook while others continue on.

From this overlook, you can see the beach below. Make your way down the "path" to the wooden bridge then down to the beach. This is a great place to picnic and enjoy the view from the foot of the falls.

Across the beach you will see a cliff. To the left of the cliff you will see a trail that leads to the top. On top of the cliff is a big broken tree, where you will have a clear view of Lampson Falls head on. Magnificent Photo Op! Up and behind this tree is a fallen log. Where the log and tree meet you will find the prize you seek.

Please rehide will!
