The stamp has been replaced! 4/8/12

1. Travel north on York Road (Rt.45) from Cockeysville to Monkton Road (Rt. 138 East).

2. Make a right onto Monkton Road where you will see the NCR trail sign.

3. Follow on Monkton Road until you reach Monkton Station (a couple miles down the road).

4. Park at Monkton Station (if parking is not available - see sign at end of parking lot for additional parking).

5. Walk north on the NCR trail (you will see old railroad station on your left).

6. Continue past Mile marker 115/23 on right of trail.

7. At 'W' marker* on the left, continue north on the trail.

8. You will pass a tree (poplar) posing as a telephone pole, with a wart about ten feet up, on the left side of the trail. Keep going.

9. Continue to the large rock ridge on your right. This is after the dry stream bed and culvert before the ridge. (if you pass a bench on your right, you have gone too far.)

10. Like a monkey, climb up to the rock with the 6 tree trunks.

11. Behind those 6 tree trunks, look 70 degrees NE to find two tree trunks.

12. The Monkton Monkey rests nestled behind the 2 tree trunks and in front of the large rock.

*The 'W' marker was a warning signal indicating that the train engineer should sound whistle before road crossing.
